Repurposing of De Kolonel textile factory
Passion and entrepreneurship breathe new life into this former textile factory that serves as ‘artisanal-industrial centre.
’This iconic building, which is dissected by the railway track on the outskirts of greater Kortrijk, forms part of a larger industrial unit in Heule. It stands with its feet in the open flax landscape and is flanked by the beautiful Heulebeek river.
We intend valorising the available floor space primarily by programming in a new artisanal-industrial business centre that focuses entirely on the manufacturing industry. To support this 'new way of working', we’re focussing on the creation of a number of stimulating spaces, including lunch, relaxation and snooze rooms. We also aim to give this an economic function by sourcing an operator that specialises in healthy food.
As a heritage-worthy building, De Kolonel will claim a prominent position in the project's meeting space. The building will overlook the whole from its central vantage point, as it were. The residential accommodation will assume a relatively minor role in the program, and will dwell in serenity, deep within the building.
